The Ethernet Global Data (EGD) Management Tool (EMT) allows you to work from a high-level view of the EGD system, and edit EGD device configurations by starting the appropriate tool. The EMT displays a logical view of EGD devices and networks in a graphic format based on the content of the EGD Server. It also allows you to monitor EGD system health and aids in debugging EGD problems.
The EGD protocol allows controller devices to share information in a networked environment. EGD allows one controller (producer) to simultaneously send information to any number of peer controllers (consumers) at a fixed periodic rate. This network supports a large number of controllers capable of both producing and consuming.
